HEP Printers
NOTE: Until further notice all HEP printing should be submitted to the University Ricoh service. This should be possible from Windows, Mac and HEP Linux (at least).
The University printers are provided by Ricoh and can be accessed from HEP Linux desktops, MWS, standalone Windows and Mac OS X. See the
CSD printing guide for more information.
Printing to University Printers from HEP Linux
If you wish to print using the university Ricoh printers you should use the UOL-PS-Queue queue.
You will have to enter your university MWS account details to authenticate the print job. Currently this only works fully from GNOME desktops, not KDE. A window should pop up asking for username and password. Please be careful when entering the details as the print client won't give an error if your details are wrong. If the application does not pop up an authentication window you can authenticate in the printer settings window, under Gnome Settings, Devices, Printers. Click on the job button and authenticate.
Some applications run under KDE will pop up the authentication window, these include
- Firefox
- Document Viewer (PDF/PS/DVI)
- GIMP (any images)
You can also print by email or via the web, see the instructions here:
http://www.liv.ac.uk/csd/printing/print-anywhere/
You will need your university staff/student card when retrieving print jobs from a printer (you will have to enter your MWS login when first activating your account on the Ricoh system).
