HEP Linux Account Registration

To obtain a HEP Linux account please ask your supervisor or (for new staff members) line manager to submit the following information to our Helpdesk (helpdesk@hepREMOVETHIS.ph.liv.ac.uk)

*Full name	eg Joe Bloggs
Request username	Default username is first initial+family name eg jbloggs, but you can request something else
*MWS username	Where possible please provide the MWS username if known (this is mandatory for SSH access)
*Contact Email	Email address for the user where they can be contacted in case of any problems
Contact Phone	Phone number for the user where they can be contacted in case of any problems
*Supervisor Name	Supervisor/Line manager's name
*Start Date	Date when the account should be activated
*End Date	Date when the account (including user data) should be closed
*Experiment	Any affiliated experiments or projects, eg ATLAS, LIVDAT
Location	Expected location of the user eg 4th floor open area, office number or CERN
Special requirements	Any software packages or computing equipment required other than standard desktop and Linux tools

If the new user has a personal laptop they wish to use on the network they should send the MAC address of the wired ethernet port to helpdesk.

HEP Linux accounts are subject to standard University of Liverpool regulations on IT usage. See http://www.liv.ac.uk/csd/regulations/. Any abuse of HEP computer systems or networks will lead to immediate suspension of the account.

Supervisors will be contacted on the end date about whether the account should be closed. They should move any data that is still needed to another account within one month.
