Dark photons : Bridging the gap between resonant and beam dump searches with LHCb

by Dr. Philip Ilten (M.I.T.)

Description
Dark matter abundance suggests the presence of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) with masses on the order of the weak scale. However, a rigorous programme of searches is slowly closing the available parameter space. The dark photon sector provides an alternative light dark matter candidate. Here, a dark photon search using the proposed LHCb Run III data is explored, which could close the parameter space between the prompt and beam-dump dark photon limits.
