Challenging the Standard Model at the High Energy Frontier

Liverpool, 12th January, 2011

The meeting will run from 13:00 to 17:30 in the Chapel of the Foresight Centre.

The meeting is dedicated to most recent results regarding precision tests of the Standard Model as currently performed at the LHC. Topics will include: an introduction to our current theoretical knowledge of SM cross sections, in particular for jets, W and Z bosons and top pairs; experimental overviews and recent results from CMS, ATLAS and LHCb experiments; the interplay of SM measurements and searches; phenomenological and Monte Carlo tools.

All speakers are encouraged to leave plenty of time for questions and there will be discussions on how present and future inputs from LHC experiments, theory and Monte Carlo toools can together improve the precision on our knowledge of the Standard Model and thus also on new physics constraints.

The meeting is sponsored by the Institute of Physics.
