Ask for the RUTHERFORD CONFERENCE CHAIRED BY MR DAMERELL, ACCESS CODE C059361. Meeting Agenda 1) LCFI funding As mentioned in our last meetng, I was interviewed by SCP4 on 14th January. This was followed on 30th January by an assessment of our project by the PPARC Science Committee (SC), who have to take a strategic decision about the UK participation in any new project in excess of £1M. LCFI isn't new, but having so far been supported from the PPESP 'seedcorn' funding, and given our request for scaled-up support in future, it was necessary for the SC to consider it. Their assessment was based on our written short proposal (and thanks again to several of you for your valuable help with this) plus a presentation I gave to their meeting on 30th January. Their conclusions are summarised in this e-mail from James Stirling: Thanks again with your presentation yesterday. Although the decision and feedback will come to you through the official channels, I can inform you that Science Committee was most impressed by the LCFI project, recognised its importance for the UKs involvememnt in a future linear collider, and therefore recommended that it go forward for full peer review as soon as possible. The usual caveats about the difficult financial situation, no promise of money etc apply of course. Following this successful step, we have been invited to submit a detailed proposal and make an open session presentation to the PPRP (Projects Peer Review Panel) for their 25th March meeting, with talks by Konstantin Stefanov and Nicolo de Groot.
