This was a feeble excuse for the peer review process. No contact with reviewers, whose identities remain secret. However, it appears that the sub-panel that looked at our proposal could not have contained an expert on silicon detectors - I hope none of our readers was on it! Their feedback report, to be discussed in our meeting, isb littered with painful misconceptions that could have been cleared up in a short phone call. Is this a sensible way to handle a proposal for £3.8M, which involved a serious amount of careful preparation? Their feedback report contains the phrase '... this was an incremental development that most likely would happen anyway ...'. Let's hope that their apparent optimism about alternative funding sources proves to be accurate! According to Neville Harnew and Ken Peach, the PPRP can probably keep us going through this FY but not beyond. At present, our funds dry up on 3rd December. We should in our meeting discuss briefly our fallback options for next year. 7) AOB Dates of meetings for 2002.
