The purpose of the day is to bring together people in the region interested in establishing a high energy proton therapy centre in Liverpool. Proton therapy, current and future UK needs for proton therapy and the facilities required at a proton therapy centre will be considered, as will the possible contributions of the region's NHS trusts, universities and research institutes to a Liverpool centre. The development of a bid to host such a centre, in response to the recent Department of Health call, will be discussed.
