A meeting to thrash out a policy and future direction for computing in the Department, and try to identify possible sources of funding that could help us replace the present ageing computing hardware and infrastructure.

  1. Overview of current situation: MAH Review (ppt)
  2. Cluster and local network design for maximum performance and maintainability: JB/RF HEP Computing (pdf).
  3. Implications of current ATLAS and LHCb computing models for us in the next few years: CG ATLAS (pdf) and DH LHCb (pdf).
  4. Inter-working with North West Grid and the issue of sustainability: CA (CSD) NW-GRID (ppt).
  5. Status and plans for cluster room infra-structure (power, air con): DD (FM).
  6. General discussion.
