K5-501 Outer Module using Melbourne Support Card

Module mounted in Valencia Cooling Box
Module mounted directly onto cooling block - no insulation layer added.
Agnd connection to box.
No common-mode chokes used.
Melbourne Support Card - (Select = 1), Redundant data route.

Nominal ABCD bias settings (FEShp = 30uA, FEBias = 220uA)
Vdet = 120V, Idet = 0.49uA
Thybrid = 31C

Results

Noise Occupancy scans with 17 masked channels as that used on the Test Sector at CERN

Redundant NoiseOcc. Data was taken with the 'Wiggly' Kapton Opto-connector plugged into the hybrid.
Redundant Noise Occ.as above but this time with Opto-connector disconnected.
Redundant Noise Occ.as above but this time with Opto-connector disconnected and no Agnd connection from support card to module box (though there is a connection from the module Agnd to the cooling block pin).

Conclusion

K5-501 has been demonstrated to work electrically
Module perfromance is:

Front-end Input noise, Link0 = 1521e, Link 1 = 1504e; (specification is <1500e)
Gain, Link 0 = 50.3mV/fC, link1 = 50mV/fC (specification is 50mV/fC)
Threshold variation (for TrimRange 0) , Link 0 = 2.01mV, Link 1 = 2.03mV.
Noise Occupancy, for both Links 1.50x 10^-5- 1.78 x 10^-5(specification, after irradiation is <10^-4)

Again the Electro-Opto perfromance is not as good when compared to using the Redundant Data link but this problem is understood (jitter on the decoded clock from the DORIC) and thus not unexpected.

Conclusion

Results obtained here in Liverpool again indicate no problems in the electrical readout of a K5.1 type module.
Module characteristics are in close agreement with those obtained at CERN when being readout electrically.
