K5-302 Outer Module using Liverpool Support Card

A scheme has been developed to check the feasibility of reading out a K5 module using the Opto Route (DORIC/VDC) remotely. The module is configured to be electrically 'remote' from the readout support card, the interconnection is made via a 5m screened Ethernet cable (for the BPM encoded CLK0/COM0 and Link0/Link1 data streams). The input signals for the DORIC have been set so that they are switching at 60uA (low-end), the DORIC is specified to expect input signals whose switching range is 60uA - 600uA (for a Logic 1).

Opto-Results

As a comparison the tests are repeated but this time using the Redundant data route with the readout adjacent to the module (no remote interconnection).

Conclusions/Observations

Comparing the Remote Opto-Readout against the Redundant Readout shows little difference in the specified performance parameters. The Input Noise, Gain and Threshold profiles also show the same structure.
